Well Happy New Year everyone! I hope this blog finds you happy, and in good health! I have started the year off right by spending lots of time working on new jewelry pieces. :-) 2011 ended with a great big wonderful hoorah, as I had several very successful shows in a row, AND became engaged to Dennis, my best friend and now fabulous fiance, on Dec 13th! This was a year of big changes for me, but all for the positive. I continue to have a very busy schedule, and sometimes don't know which way is up, but it's always wonderful to have Dennis to lean on (and to get me my favorite mint chocolate chip frozen yogurt even if it's late at night). He helps me schlep all the display stuff to each show, and usually stays for the duration (even when I tell him it's ok to stay home). He's definitely a keeper! ;-)
I continue to explore working with resin, and have posted new photos of this in the "Behind The Scenes" section on the website. I love the new marbling technique I learned and I will hopefully have photos up soon in the gallery. I think all marbled resin pendants, except for one, sold out within 2 shows!! The last few shows of the year were all very successful and I have decided that small shows with low booth fees are the way to go. And home jewelry shows. Speaking of which, a big thank you to Marie Kann, my future mother-in-law, for hosting this wonderful event, and for all the folks who came out and supported me, whether through verbal and moral support, or by purchasing my items. It was definitely a great time!
A new series of pieces I am working on are watches with interchangeable bands. They're very cool!! I saw the idea in a magazine, but altered the design to make it what I wanted it to be. I've just started working on it so I haven't perfected it yet, but I'm close! I made a few for my mom for Christmas and of course, she proudly wears them! She's a good guinea pig for me. She'll give me her honest opinion and let me know if something works or doesn't work.
I am currently undecided about what to do with the online shop. It takes a LOT of time to list everything and keep it up-to-date, and I'm not sure I can maintain it with my 4 different jobs (plus this 5th hobby job). Feel free to send me a comment on the comment page with your thoughts.
I will hopefully have photos of new pieces up soon. Most of them have already been sold but you'll be able to get a good idea of the new concepts and techniques I've been using. As always....stay tuned!
Have a Happy New Year!!! May your 2012 be filled with love and laughter!
